The Symposium will be held by Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna at Aula Prodi of San Giovanni in Monte, a complex located in the heart of the city centre.
The purpose of Aphidophaga is to provide an international forum focused on the ecology of arthropods that have evolved feeding relationships with aphids, many of which provide ecological services as biological control agents of pests in agricultural, forest and urban ecosystems. Aphidophaga 16th is supported by the International Organization for Biological Control (IOBC) that promotes biological control to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides.
At the congress, senior and junior researchers from around the world, graduate students and post-docs, meet to present scientific advances and ideas in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. The symposium has no parallel sessions; it is designed to create opportunities for intellectual exchange among participants and has stimulated many productive multinational collaborations over the years.
Presentations and posters should address one or more of the following themes related to aphid biological control agents:
- Systematics and phylogeny
- Morphology and physiology
- Distribution in habitats
- Behaviour
- Chemical ecology
- Voltinism and diapause
- Integrated Pest Management
- Impact of aphidophaga on aphid populations
- Impact of chemical control on aphidophaga
- Tritrophic interactions
- Aphidophaga natural enemies
- Invasive aphidophaga
- Intraguild interactions
- Mass production and release
- Climatic changes and seasonal adaptation
- Modelling and population dynamics
Looking forward to meeting you in Bologna!
